06/14/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Florida Christian continues to show big upside on the bump. He works to a tall/controlled balance point and drives downhill in-line toward the dish. Arm strength is at a pro level as indicated by his 90 mph velocity. FB jumps out of his hand and is sneaky fast getting in on hitters. CB has sharp 11/5 shape with good actions. Changeup displays good sink as he maintains arm speed. He repeats well and commands the zone well, working both sides of the plate. Christian is a talented RHP who has a high ceiling and will get looks from top collegiate coaches and pro scouts.

01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Christian performed well in the fall when we saw him at the Under Armour Futures in Florida, but his outing at this event in Arizona was on another level. He was outstanding, throwing a high volume of strikes with all three of his offerings. His fastball touched 92 with lots of life at the plate and outstanding downhill plane from his high arm slot. His breaking ball had hard, late bite and works as his out-pitch. It is good enough that it should continue to get swing-and-miss results at higher levels. Christian also showed an excellent feel for a sinking change that he has plenty of confidence throwing at any time. Overall, this is a long, loose and athletic RHP with big upside - he needs to be followed closely.

09/19/2015 - 2015 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures East Santana has an athletic frame with length at 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds. His most apparent tool at this time is arm strength, which he shows from the outfield and on the mound. He topped at 87 and pitched in the 84-85 mph range with some tailing arm side life. He spun a 10-4 breaking ball in the mid-to-upper 70s and showed some feel for a 77-78 mph change. His arm worked well and his delivery was athletic, only leaving a more consistent feel for the strike zone as a need for the future. At the plate, he extended through contact very well and showed some ability to drive the ball to the pull side. His stroke was quicker and more precise against live pitching that in BP. Overall, a projectable RHP with a chance for big fastball velocity.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
