Official Scouting Report

  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

07/08/2012 - Select Training at the All-Star Game Servellon continues to show as a MIF/RHP and has potential at both positions. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date but needs to continue to improve through a speed / agility program. At 2B, feet are active as he works to square balls up and presents clean hands. He needs to improve foot speed, play through balls more, and present hands more out front to continue to improve defensive grades. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Christian shows a balanced setup with rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through the zone. He makes consistent contact with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered, flashing gap-to-gap power. At the event, he was 4 for 8 with a 3B and 2B. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 72-76 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with tight spin. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained.

12/27/2011 - Pirate City Christmas Camp and Tournament - Session 2 Servellon continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. His feet are active and he works to get around balls while displaying clean hands, as he has improved his defensive grades. He needs to play through balls more while presenting his hands more out front to continue to improve defensive grades. Throws display accuracy from a low arm slot but will benefit by building more arm strength and carry through a long toss program. At the plate, Christian is mechanically sound through a balanced approach. He makes consistent contact but needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, his fastball shows a range of 70-73 mph with life. He shows feel for his changeup as he maintains arm speed but he needs to develop more movement on the pitch. His breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He needs to work on control and throwing more strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is developed.

03/20/2011 - Interactive Video Program - Austin, TX Christian is big, solid 2B / RHP who also plays football, and runs track. Defensively, Christian has soft hands, fluid footwork, and he moves well laterally. He fields on the balls of his feet, he plays through the ball, and he works the double play nicely. Christian has a quick / clean exchange and he throws with a loose arm with accuracy and carry to his target. On the mound, Christian has a smooth and easy delivery, and a tall / controlled balance point. He works in good rhythm, his separation is smooth, and he competes in the zone with his pitches. Offensively, Christian has an athletic set-up, proper load, and short stride. He has good balance, fast bat speed, and he makes hard / consistent contact. Christian has a short swing path, he can work the ball gap-to-gap, and he swings in good rhythm. Christian is a projectable 2-way player, and can get better with work on the following.

Defense
1. Work low to high
2. Slow roller
Pitching
1. Work on CB / SL
2. Long toss
Offense
1. Contact point
2. Loosen grip / actions

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
