10/07/2007 - College PREP - Colorado Springs, CO Silva has a lean and somewhat narrow build on a medium to small frame. He showed a fluid, easy right handed stroke and made line drive contact from gap to gap. His opposite field contact was solid at times, he did a good job of making contact deeper in the hitting zone. His hands and wrists flashed life through the hitting zone at times. The pieces of this young hitter certainly appear to be in place. Can work to eliminate the bat wrap in his setup and load, and can stay behind his stride foot longer and firm up his left side at contact. He showed an occasional quick release in the infield, and moved well to his backhand side. His arm action was compact, and he showed body control to throw on the run. Will need to improve his arm strength and overall quickness to stay at shortstop, a likely candidate to move to the other side of the bag at this point - both arm strength and quickness have improved noticeably since we saw him in October 2006.
