Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

08/21/2011 - College PREP - Farmingville (Long Island), NY Frederique continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities, still showing as a two-way player. He now projects best at SS for the next level but has potential on the mound. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date but will benefit by staying on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness. Feet are active and aggressive as he attacks groundballs while playing through with his body. Hands / feet work well through the fielding process and he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Glove action is soft, clean, and sure as he is a fundamentally sound defender. Throws display life, accuracy and on-line carry across the diamond. Offensively is where Dalton has improved the most now showing outstanding hitting abilities and power through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed to and through the point of contact, creating extension. He has strength in his swing with the baseball exploding off his bat as he displays a solid feel for the barrel. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 82-84 mph on a slight downhill plane. Changeup is best off-speed pitch showing a solid feel for with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break as he needs to work on staying on top of the pitch. He attacks hitters as he throws strikes with all of his pitches, locating to both sides of the plate.

02/21/2011 - College PREP - Freeport, NY Christopher is a thin and athletic looking two way player that graduates in 2013. He shows good ability in the infield with quick actions, good balance and active feet to the ball. He has an accurate arm, quick release and has good carry on his throws. He needs to continue to work on a lower fielding position which will help get his hands out front more and he needs to play through the ball better at times. Offensively he shows good bat speed with good use of his lower half. At times he was late with his front foot which caused him to rush his hand load. On the mound Christopher shows a repeatable delivery which helps with his consistent strike throwing with the fastball. He needs to square up better with his landing foot which will help cut down on him throwing across his body. Strength and body maturity will continue to help develop his overall game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
