Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • C/RHPPosition Projection

12/20/2020 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Christopher is a coachable C/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Christmas Camp & Tournament. Behind the plate, Christopher sits in an athletic stance and tracks the ball into his glove well. He gains ground on his throws and keeps them accurate to the 2B bag. He centers dirt balls in the middle of his body and keeps the ball in front of him. Presenting his glove to the pitcher sooner can help Christopher improve his receiving skills. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance with comfortable hands. He works through a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to consistent contact and line drives. Christopher can barrel up more baseballs by working a smoother load into his swing. On the mound, Christopher starts with a simple rock step and separates his hands on time. He stays inline toward the plate and keeps his pitches around the zone. Christopher shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 70mph with sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 62-64mph with sharp 11-5 break. Lengthening his arm action can help Christopher improve his pitch command. Overall, Christopher is a solid prospect who has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

11/15/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Deer Park (Houston), TX Christopher is an athletic C/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times showed in 2.40 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach with gap-to-gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 71 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. With 3 years to further develop, Christopher has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
