05/28/2020 - 2020 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National South Christopher had a very good showing at the BF South Showcase. He hit some balls hard in the live at bats, including a ball smoked into the LCF gap. He continues to show a mature, balanced approach at the plate with a short, clean right-handed stroke. He has some loft power to the pull side and aggressively hunts balls that he can drive. Christopher also shows the kind of leadership and game intelligence that you look for in a catcher. He handles his pitchers well and plays with a quiet confidence behind the plate along with having the kind of durable frame that can hold up back there for a longer season. There continues to be a lot to like in this C prospect.

03/01/2020 - National Tryout - Wilson, NC It's been 6 weeks since we last saw Chris and his ability continues to impress. With his 6'/210 lbs strong/ athletic frame, he hits from a square stance with a simple short stride to initiate his sequence. He is fluid and smooth with his rhythm and timing and delivers a fast barrel on-plane to contact with a through lower half. His barrel proved to be extremely accurate and he was aggressive to attack the baseball in a true offensive manner - looking to do damage. Behind the dish, he covered well with soft hands a quick/clean exchange. He tracked the ball into the mitt with his eyes and really gave a good low target to keep pitchers down in the zone. His release was quick and throws were accurate to 2B, keeping his pops in the 2.0-2.1 range. In all - we continue to be intrigued by his ability on both sides of the baseball and enjoy tracking his progress & growth from event to event!

01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Chris is an athletic C/RHP prospect who showcased his skills during his time at the Under Armour All-American Pre-Season Tournament. Behind the plate, Chris presents a good target to the pitcher and receives with soft hands. He gets into a square secondary stance and replaces his feet when throwing. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid fo the ball quickly, keeping his throws on the 1B side of the 2B bag. Chris moves efficiently to block and covers up well. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He gets his hands activated on time and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a smooth swing with fast bat speed, leading to consistent contact and solid pop. On the mound, Chris gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline towards the plate, finishing with his chest over his front knee. Chris shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 85mph with good arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 66-67mph with sharp 10-4 break. Overall, Chris is a talented two-way prospect who will be one to follow going into his sophomore season.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
