10/03/2018 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic Chris is a coachable 3B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic. In the field, Chris shows active footwork and fields the ball out in front of his body. He throws from over the top and keeps his throws accurate and on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He hits from a strong front side and produces solid contact. On the mound, Chris keeps his eyes on target throughout his windup and finishes with his chest over his front knee. He shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 74mph. Breaking ball sits from 66-67mph with 11-5 break. With three more years to develop, Chris has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

09/09/2018 - College PREP - La Verne (Los Angeles), CA Chris is an athletic 3B/C prospect who will graduate in 2021. At 3B, Chris fields the ball in a low position and works to make accurate throws. Chris can improve as a 3B by quickening his footwork. As a catcher, Chris shows efficient footwork and centers the ball when blocking. He sits in an athletic stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. He throws from over the top to 2B and keep his throws accurate and on-line to the bag. Chris can improve as a catcher by staying low when moving to throw. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He drives his lower half well and shows decent pop to his pull side. Chris can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. With three more years to develop, Chris has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
