07/08/2019 - Baseball Factory Cleveland All Star Experience (Ages 14-18) Christopher continues to show as a prospect on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.10 with accuracy and zip (81 mph velocity) to his target. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft / sure and he sticks balls in the zone through an athletic setup. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an open setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a team player, coachable, and plays the game hard.

07/18/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Christopher continues to show a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.60 range with accuracy on his throws. Feet are active working in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Glove action is soft as he sticks balls well in the zone through the receiving process. He uses his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner and increase lateral movement to improve grade. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Christopher is a lean and athletic right handed hitting catcher/OF who will graduate in 2021. In his time in Arizona, he showed a passion for learning new things and proved to be a leader on the field amongst his teammates. Defensively at catcher, he did a fine job of blocking balls in the dirt, by recognizing the pitch immediately, dropping to his knees quickly and using his chest to keep the ball in front of him. Arm played well, as he made a clean exchange after he caught the ball, gained ground to his target and fired the ball with good accuracy. In the outfield, he also displayed a good, low, fielding position, a sure glove on both fly balls and ground balls, along with an accurate arm. Offensively, he was displayed an aggressive approach while he hit the ball hard to his pull side often. Hands were quick; as he loaded on time, and kept them on a direct path to the baseball. Involving more of his lower 1/2 into his swing, by driving his back knee/hip to the pitcher at the time of contact, will help with power to all fields. Overall, Christopher is a special, young prospect who has good makeup and a high ceiling in this game.

11/06/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Hillsboro, OR Chris is a lean built C/OF prospect who has a good feel for the game offensively and defensively. As a right-handed hitter, Chris has a solid setup and is open with his stance. He takes a short load and his swing path is on-plane. Chris has a line drive approach and shows solid contact to the opposite field. As a catcher, Chris works hard and moves well laterally keeping everything in front of him. He is quick to his knees when needing to block the baseball. Chris throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with good accuracy. In the outfield, Chris plays with active footwork starting with an effective first step. He does a nice job staying behind the baseball and fielding it squarely as he presents his glove. Chris attacks the baseball and has a clean exchange leading into a loose arm action from a 3/4 arm slot. He plays with momentum through the baseball helping his throws stay online. Overall abilities will improve with work on the following.

Hitting
1. Rotate back foot
2. Lower leg kick
Catching
1. Lower target
2. Keep throwing hand protected
Outfield
1. Crow hop
2. Keep feet in line while throwing

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
