02/26/2022 - Mid Atlantic Regional Pitching/Catching & Offensive Skills Combined Weekend (MS) Christopher Rao, 1B/LHP 2028, Morganville, NJ Works with rhythm at the plate and works well through contact. Due to age/size he has to put a lot into the swing but still maintains good balance and fires off of his backside. Has a tendency to spin and lean too far on his toes, but that will clean up with natural maturity and strength improvement. Still currently on the 60' diamond, he does well on the mound. Gathers over the rubber, separates on time and works to the plate with a loose arm and clean release. Has a good foundation for his pitch mix, works in a breaking ball and a nice little CH.

12/12/2021 - Official Player Development Membership - Manalapan, NJ Christopher is a young, 2-way player who plays 1B and OF. In the INF, Christopher has efficient footwork, he covers ground, and centers well on his body. He makes the routine plays on balls hit his way, he has some bag awareness, and throws with consistency to his target. If Christopher can play lower, and add arm strength, abilities in the INF can improve. In the OF, Christopher has athletic range, footwork is efficient, and he makes plays. He has a clean exchange, and a quick/accurate arm to his cut off man. Outfield skills can get better by playing lower and following his throws to his target. At the plate, Christopher has a closed stance, some bat speed, and he keeps his hands inside the ball well. He finds the barrel consistently, and works the middle of the field. More lower body and work on stride/balance will help spike hitting numbers.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
