06/17/2010 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - Week 1 Salerno is a young (2013 grad) catcher with present strength. He swings the bat well and flashes occasional pull-side power that will continue to develop. His approach is sound with advanced plate discipline for his age as well as a penchant for using the big part of the field. Improved rhythm will help the consistency of his offensive game against better pitching. Behind the plate, he receives well and shows a consistent, accurate arm. His blocking skills need some refining, but he showed us enough in his receiving, footwork and leadership skills to know that he will stay behind the plate. As he improves his arm strength and polishes his stroke at the plate, Christopher will develop into a solid catcher at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
