02/19/2018 - College PREP - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI CJ is a long, well-built OF/SS prospect who has a versatile skill set. In the outfield, CJ plays with effective footwork and covers good ground. He presents his glove and fields the ball in an athletic position. CJ has a clean exchange leading into a long arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He plays with good momentum through the ball showing consistently online throws. Offensively, CJ has a square, athletic setup with a firm front side. He has smooth rhythm with an on-time stride. CJ shows fast bat speed with an aggressive approach. He gets good extension at contact landing the barrel to the baseball. He has a middle of the field approach and the ability to drive the ball to each with power. At SS, CJ plays with active footwork and a quick first step. He presents his glove and fields the ball in an athletic, low position. CJ has a quick exchange and throws from a 3/4 arm slot. He plays through the ball showing consistently online throws across the diamond. Overall, CJ plays the game the right with a well-rounded game giving him a bright future on the diamond.

06/17/2017 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) CJ continues to show a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, hitting/power potential are now solid through an athletic setup. He has a strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path with lower half working well through the swing. He has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. In the OF, he takes a quick first step and moves lightly on the balls of his feet. Range is a plus as reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. Transfer is smooth with strong throws through his cut off. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

02/20/2017 - College PREP - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI CJ continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate is where he has improved the most through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He has strength in his swing and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth/fluid actions. Feet are active/aggressive as he moves well laterally, displaying range in the MIF. Glove action is soft/sure and he presents well out front. Hands/feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. In the OF, he takes proper routes/angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through well with his body. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City CJ is a coachable player who worked very hard on his skills during his time in Pirate City. He is willing to make adjustments to be the best player he can be. At SS, he is fundamentally sound, displaying smooth/fluid actions. Feet are active as he works into a square/athletic/low fielding position and presents his glove out in front. He gathers smoothly and has a clean exchange to throw. At the plate, he shows a balanced/athletic setup. Hands are loose as he whips the barrel through a level path and makes consistent contact. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power will increase as he builds more overall body strength and utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, he shows good mound presence and composure. Fastball showed in the high 60 range. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all of his pitches. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. CJ has a good feel for the game and plays with a lot of energy.

07/24/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 CJ improved a lot of areas of his game (increased his arm velocity, lowered his 60 time). At SS, CJ gets low, stays low and works through the ball getting good momentum towards his target. He showed plus range with light/active footwork as he made all the routine plays. As a LHH, CJ has a soft, clean stride with the ability to stay inside the ball. He has tremendous plate coverage, which allows him to hit to all fields. On the mound, CJ works downhill and pounds the zone with a 2-pitch mix in the low to mid 60s. He works with a good tempo, strong front side and excellent balance. CJ is a hard worker and with continued work on arm strength, physical mobility and explosiveness, he will see a huge jump in his skills between the lines.

07/31/2014 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Historic Dodgertown CJ continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. In the infield CJ fields out in front, and flashes quick feet. He shows a fluid throwing motion, as well the proper foot work through the throw. Offensively, CJ shows a solid controlled load with excellent bat speed. He flashes power at times, and has the ability to drive the baseball to the gaps. CJ needs to keep the proper posture and stay centered while at the plate. On the mound, CJ has a clean arm action, and is able to finish his pitches on a consistent basis. He also shows good direction throughout the entire motion and delivery. As we saw in the last event, CJ has a strong passion for this game and loves to compete!

11/14/2013 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City CJ continues to show consistency in his game since the last time we saw him. Defensively, he displayed aggressive feet with a strong accurate arm. CJ needs go work on reaching a stronger fielding position and focus on playing through the ball. On the mound, CJ showed solid mechanics with a good backside finish and free arm action. Landing is square showing better direction this time out. He will need to work on the consistency of his front side lead as well as work on building arm strength. Offensively, CJ showed good bat speed with an aggressive approach. He will need to stay focused on staying level through the zone getting more extension. Overall, CJ was a great teammate who shows a passion for the game.

08/03/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Cleveland, OH CJ is a thin, athletic SS/RHP with good athleticism. Defensively, CJ has soft hands, active feet, and he fields out front. He has good footwork, a quick exchange, and he throws with accuracy from a long arm action to his target. On the mound, CJ has a sound arm action, proper separation, and level shoulders. At the plate, CJ has a tall set-up, good balance, and he makes square contact. He swings in good rhythm, and uses his lower 1/2 well.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
