10/17/2012 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic CJ is an athletic OF/ RHP that will graduate in 2014. Currently, he projects best in the OF for the next level. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 7.12 60 time. He utilizes his quick, athletic feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. For defensive grades to continue to improve, he needs to work on getting behind balls more to play through. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Kastner shows a balanced approach with rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with the ball jumping off his bat when centered with power numbers improving as he learns to use his lower half more. At the event, he was 3 for 8 with 3B. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 69-72 mph with off speed pitches needing further development to be quality pitches at the next level. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays hard. With 2 years to further develop, CJ has the makings to be a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.
