Official Scouting Report

06/05/2019 - 2019 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Florida CJ is an athletic OF prospect with a tremendous all around skill set. In the field, CJ shows fluid footwork and covers ground well. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this LHH shows an advanced approach through a square setup. He is smooth getting back into his load and drives through well with his lower half, leading to great pull side power. Overall, CJ is a talented prospect who will be among the top OF's in his class.

09/15/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures East CJ brings an exciting combination of anquality bat, defensive versatility and feel for the game. His mature approach at the plate was evident at the UA BF Futures event. He showed barrel accuracy and some pull power during a quality batting practice session, and then showed his ability to see and recognize pitches in game during some excellent, competitive at bats. CJ stood in well against quality LH stuff also, showing the complete and advanced hitter that he is. Defensively, he showed well both at 1B and in the OF. He has sure hands, instincts and carry to his accurate arm from both spots. It's easy to envision CJ driving in runs and providing valuable defense at multiple spots at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
