12/14/2019 - Florida Regional Offensive Skills and Pitching/Catching Combined Weekend (Ages 14-18) CJ is a talented 2021 prospect that worked hard and made some adjustments over the weekend. At the plate, CJ starts in a tall and squared stance. He is on time with his front foot, he gets balanced with his lower half, and he rotates his backside through. He has a direct swing path and has a gap to gap approach. He needs to continue to improve his strength in his lower half, back the ball up, and swing with more intent. On the bump, CJ has a loose arm action, he extends thru his delivery, and rotates toward his target. He has a tendency to rush his delivery which causes him to leak and not get to a balance point. When his stride leg gets higher he can create a better angle down hill and stay back longer. He throws his fastball for strikes, he has a medium break on his curveball, and has run on his changeup. CJ will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
