Exclusive College Recruiting Program A very talented performer on both sides of the game CJ boasts skills as a true catch and throw receiver, but also a very talented switch hitter who has impact from both sides of the plate. Using a quiet set up with rhythm and feel for being on time in his approach CJ has a balanced stroke that plays to the middle of the diamond with current doubles power and is emerging to show HR power to the pull side gap and line with the feel to use the opposite field from both sides of the plate to maximize his offensive potential. Behind the plate he shows a feel for how to anticipate pitches with soft hands and strong wrists he can manipulate the baseball as a receiver to handle velocity and spin. It’s durable frame with strength, but mobile and agile as a blocker he moves well to handle pitches in the dirt and shows comfort both receiving on two feet and on one knee based on needs. The arm is average to above average with accuracy and quick release. CJ is a very high-end C prospect defensively and combined with his offensive feel he has a chance to be an impact player at the next level on both sides of the game. Carrying a strong work ethic off the field with great makeup and solid academics as a 3.4 student.

01/14/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) CJ is a class 3 catcher who showed solid improvements at the Pre-Season AA. He increased arm velocity to 86 MPH, lowered pop times to 1.9 seconds, and he ran his best 60 time at 7.66 seconds. Behind the plate, CJ has active footwork, a presentable glove, and he takes good angles to block. He is quick behind the dish, he gains ground, and throws accurately with carry and momentum to 2nd base. Offensively, CJ can swing it from both sides of the plate. From the right, CJ has good balance, an open stance, and a fluid swing. He has a short/direct barrel, fast bat speed, and he uses his lower body. From the left side, CJ has an open stance, a good load, and he swings on plane; working the ball gap to gap.

06/18/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (HS) CJ is a class of 2023 catcher. Behind the plate, he showed good footwork and plus arm strength. He has a good ability to control the run game and had pop times as low as 1.99 seconds. He did a good job blocking and showed quickness and good pitch recognition. He received well and was able to show quiet actions. At the plate, he showed the ability to hit from both sides of the plate. He has a good approach with a middle of the field focus. He did a good job using his lower ½ from both sides of the plate. In game action he was able to find barrels often and got on base multiple times. CJ is a well-rounded athletic catcher and we hope to see him again as he continues to develop.

02/22/2020 - Baseball Factory Mid-Atlantic Combined Skills Training - Columbia, MD (Ages 14-18) CJ continues to show improvement and has a terrific, coachable attitude. A pleasure to work with. His strength as a C is his leadership abilities and then also he can receive really well where he has strong, relaxed hands. He has a good transfer to throw and is accurate! As a hitter, he is aggressive with good barrel accuracy and a good lower half. He'll continue improvement at the plate by getting on plane more consistently.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament CJ is a C/2B prospect that attended the Pre-Season Rookie All-American. Behind the dish CJ shows an athletic primary stance and receives the ball with a firm mitt. As he works to throw he makes clean exchanges in his secondary and delivers the ball to 2B with accuracy. Blocking, CJ shows hard work centering the ball to the hand and glove side keeping it in front. At the plate, he sets up in an athletic stance with comfortable hands and gets his foot down on-time. CJ gets the barrel on plane making consistent contact and shows he can work the ball to all fields. CJ shows hard work and hustle and will continue to develop and grow.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
