03/15/2015 - College PREP - Plainview (Lubbock), TX Clay is lean, athletic 2016 OF with a ton of athletic ability and a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 6.87 60 time. In the OF, defensive grades are well above average as he displays smooth / fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and goes back well on balls. Hands are soft / clean as he utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He moves well laterally, covers a ton of ground, displaying range and plays with a lot of energy. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through an aggressive approach. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Clay has a ton of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
