12/17/2017 - College PREP - Thousand Oaks, CA Clayton is lean, athletic catcher who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed a range of 2.06-2.18 with accuracy / carry on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft / sure and he tracks balls well through the receiving process. He uses his body well through the blocking process and moves well laterally, centering all balls out front. Receiving / blocking tools show as outstanding skills that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying well above average hitting / power potential through a crouched setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. With 3 years to further develop, Clayton has the makings of a special type player and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities as he continues to develop.
