01/05/2020 - College PREP - Jacksonville, FL Clayton continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 80 mph. Breaking ball sits from 66-68 mph with late/sharp 12/6 break. Changeup sits from 72-74 mph with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. At the plate, hitting/power potential has improved through a squared setup. He drives through well with his lower half and makes solid contact. Hand are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and he shows a solid feel for the barrel. Overall, Clayton is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

11/03/2019 - College PREP - Tampa, FL Clayton is an athletic and talented 2021 2-way prospect with a solid frame. At the hot corner, Clayton is on time with his prep step and he fields the ball in an athletic position. He has proper footwork on his throws and makes the routine play. At the plate, Clayton starts in an athletic and squared stance. He loads his hands back into the drive position, and has good separation. He rotates his back hip, has a quiet head, and a simple approach. On the bump, Clayton gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and finds a balance point. He has a strong front side and works north to south in his delivery. He has tight spin on his breaking ball and shows some feel for his changeup. Clayton will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
