Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

08/02/2018 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 12-14) Clayton is a strong two-way player who is currently more advanced as a position player. He shows feel to hit with hand-eye coordination to deliver the barrel to the ball. He is smooth to load and launch through the zone. His bat path is on plane and his lower half generated bat speed and pop with line drive ability. At third, he is efficient working to the ball to field with presented hands. His athleticism helps him get to plenty of balls and get rid of it quickly. On the bump, he is poised and composed, working aggressively in the zone. His fastball wits in the upper 40's with sink and he shows a 12-6 breaking ball. Repeating his delivery consistently will improve control. Clayton is definitely a player to keep an eye on.

06/10/2018 - Interactive Video Program - New Orleans, LA Clayton is a young, 2-way player who plays 3B and RHP. Defensively, Clayton has active feet, his hands are soft, and he fields low and athletically. He attacks aggressively, and has clean exchange, and throws with accuracy from a short arm action to his target. On the mound, Clayton has a loose arm action, a controlled landing toward home, and he rotates through toward his target. Offensively, Clayton has an open stance, good balance, and he swings aggressively. He has a level swing, makes hard contact, and he can work the ball gap to gap. Clayton can improve overall skills with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
