06/01/2014 - National Tryout - River Forest (Chicago), IL Clint continues to work hard. At the plate, this righty shows a balanced approach with a solid base. He swings on a level path and drives the ball. Power potential is there with increased lower 1/2 drive. Behind the dish, he shows good energy and works around pitches in the dirt. When throwing down to 2B; he has a clean exchange and gains ground toward his target. A solid all-around player - Clint should find success on the diamond.

02/16/2014 - National Tryout - Monticello, IA Clint showed consistent ability in his game since his last outing with Baseball Factory. Behind the dish, he sat in the 2.15 range with his pop times and received with soft hands. He sits comfortably, presents a good target and displays good feel to block. Gaining ground to throw - not standing straight up - and cleaning his exchange will enable lower more consistent pops. Offensively, he tracks well, has a good oppo approach and is balanced throughout. Using his lower and upper together in his swing will enable greater barrel accuracy and bat speed. Overall - Clint is a solid junior backstop that projects well with two more seasons to fine tune his game.

09/08/2013 - College PREP - Oak Creek (Milwaukee), WI Clint has improved some of his baseball tools. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity at our arm strength station, topping out at 78 mph. At the plate, hitting grades have improved as well, now showing as a average tool through a balanced closed setup. Hands are loose and work through a level / on plane swing path. He makes consistent contact with hitting grades continuing to improve as he improves bat speed and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. Behind the plate, blocking skills have improved the most now showing as outstanding tool that will play well at the next level. Pop times showed in the 2.19 range with accuracy on his throws. He works in line and gains ground to his target. Times will continue to drop as he continues to build more arm strength through a long toss program.

08/05/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Clint continues to show steady play in his abilities behind the plate. Feet are active in working in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange. He needs to gain more ground and build more arm strength to continue to lower pop times. Receiving / blocking skills show as playable tools at the next level as he continues to improve. At the plate, he shows a closed / balanced setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side and has improved his power grade. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he works to keep hands inside the ball utilizing all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a hard worker and is very coachable.

03/09/2013 - College PREP - Kenosha, WI Clint is an average sized Catcher who will graduate in 2015. Behind the plate, Clint has playable hands and feet and he tracks the ball well. He blocks well, his exchange is quick, and he throws with a short arm action with average strength to his target. Catching skills can improve if Clint can sit in lower, soften his glove, and add arm strength. Offensively, Clint has a closed stance, good balance, and a still head. He swings in good rhythm and puts the bat on the ball consistently. Hitting can get better if Clint can get more extension through the ball, stay short, and use more lower 1/2.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
