07/17/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Cody continues to show steady progress in his baseball abilities. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.59 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Feet are quick in gaining ground through a clean transfer/exchange. He shows a solid setup and sticks balls well in the zone and utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 62-63 mph. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with cutting action. Delivery is sound and repeatable with good direction and balance. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

03/04/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Plainview (Lubbock), TX Cody is a young, C/RHP who graduates in 2022. Behind the plate, Cody has active feet, firm hands, and he sits in squarely. He drops quickly to block, has a clean exchange, and a consistent arm to 2nd base. On the mound, Cody has an okay arm circle, he gets some extension on his pitches, and competes in the zone. At the plate, Cody has a crouched set-up, good balance, and he keeps a still head. He has a direct barrel to the ball, makes consistent contact, and can spray to all fields. Cody can improve overall skills with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
