11/02/2014 - College PREP - Tampa, FL Cody displayed good size at 1B during his last workout in Tampa. He makes the routine plays, fields from the ground up, and he keeps the ball in front of his body. Cody has good presence around the bag, and delivers the ball with some accuracy from a long arm action. Offensively, Cody has a balanced approach, an open stance, and he swings in good rhythm. He tracks well, has an activated load, and squares the ball up well on the barrel.

09/17/2014 - Under Armour Fall Classic, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Cody showed well once again in the tournament setting with Baseball Factory. Defensively, he moved around the bag well and positioned himself properly pre-pitch. He talked the game and is an above average defender at 1B. Offensively, he kept his hands launched and generated good bat speed to hit. He keeps his head centered to allow for plus barrel accuracy and is aggressive to attack balls in the zone. All in all - Cody is a good player that asks questions and is willing to learn to improve his game.

06/04/2014 - Under Armour Southeast Championships, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Cody is a gamer who brings his all to the field. With the bat, he shows an open setup with good rhythm. He likes the pitch on the inner 1/3 and will turn on it, pulling it with pop. He puts the ball in play and puts pressure on the defense. In the INF, he has the versatility to play both 1B as well as 3B. He shows a wide base and tracks the ground ball into his mitt. His arm angle tends to give the ball tail as he needs to work to stay on top of and through the throw. Cody is a coachable player who listens well to instruction and makes adjustments necessary to take his game to the next level.

12/20/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City Cody showed solid offensive improvements during his time in Pirate City. He raised both his hitting and power grades to 48's, showing an athletic set-up, and quick bat speed. Cody is an aggressive hitter with a level swing path, good barrel accuracy, and a hard / consistent swing path. When he's up to bat he's there to swing. In the INF, Cody has good pre-pitch actions, he works from the ground-up, and he following his throws to his target. He plays hard every time he takes the field.

04/28/2013 - National Tryout - Tampa, FL Cody improved in a few areas of his game since we saw him in January. This tall 1B works to get around the ground ball and into a square fielding position. He presents his glove out in front and works the field the ball out in front. Offensively, he displays an open setup with good balance. He tracks the ball into the zone and makes square contact, with the ability to drive the ball to the opposite field. Power will increase with more lower 1/2 drive and more extension through contact. As a 2015 grad, Colding still has time to progress in his game.

01/18/2013 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Cody is a young 1B that will graduate in 2015. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are soft / clean as he makes the routine plays. He needs to improve foot speed and attack balls more to continue to improve defensive grades. Throws are accurate, flashing carry as he needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate is where Colding shows best through a solid setup. He tracks the ball well, displaying smooth / loose / quick hands that work through a level swing path. Barrel accuracy is a plus with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and has a positive attitude. With 2 years to further develop, Cody has abilities with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
