08/02/2018 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 12-14) Cody continues to shine on the diamond. At SS, he displays proper footwork he works to square balls up. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls through a low approach. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he loads more and transfers weight properly through his lower half. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 57-63 mph with sinking action. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to develop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and is a solid team player.

05/06/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Arcata, CA Cody is an athletic, 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. Defensively, Cody has active/efficient footwork, good range, and he fields in a low position. He attacks aggressively, his exchange is clean, and throws with accuracy and consistency to his target. On the mound, Cody has a clean arm action, on-time separation, and a complete landing toward home plate. Offensively, Cody has a crouched set-up, he loads well, and has good separation. He has a direct/level barrel through the ball and hits well to the opposite field. Cody can improve overall skills with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
