11/08/2012 - Baseball Factory Training & Competition at Pirate City In Cody's most recent Factory outing he showed well in all aspects of his game. On the mound, he threw two pitches for strikes with his fastball's velocity hitting a new high of 78 MPH. His 12/6 curve-ball was a very effective pitch that he was able to throw for strikes. His delivery and control showed added improvement as he had decent front-side extension, a repeatable delivery, good balance, stayed in-line, and commanded his pitches. Cody also showed an ability to pitch up in the zone effectively. Cleaning up his arm action, utilizing his lanky frame-staying tall, using his lower half, striding further, and controlling his head will make him a more efficient pitcher. Defensively at first base, he takes good angles, makes plays, and makes accurate throws/double-play feeds from the 3/4 arm slot. Staying low to throw, being more fluid with his feet, and getting in a fielding position earlier will help increase fielding grades. Offensively, he has an athletic stance, loose grip, double-tap stride/load, barrel accuracy, and gets good extension through contact. At times, he is too tense, his arm bars, and the barrel drags. Overall, Cody projects best as a complete pitcher with a sound knowledge of the game.
