01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Cody continues to shine on the diamond. Behind the plate, pop times were in the 2.00 range with accuracy and on line carry on his throws. Feet are active, working in line to his target as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. He plays with a ton of energy and shows the ability to handle a pitching staff with his receiving/blocking skills. At the plate, hands are quick and work inside the baseball as he utilizes all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus with baseball jumping off the bat when centered with gap-to-gap pop. A projectable catcher, Cody has lot of potential and will get looks from collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

12/27/2017 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Cody continues to show improvements in his game. Behind the dish, pop times showed in the 2.10 range with carry/accuracy on his throws. Feet work in line to his target through a clean transfer/exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Times will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Receiving/blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. He sits low and presents a soft/sure glove, sticking balls in the zone. Athletic abilities are shown off through the blocking process as he is a wall behind the dish. At the plate he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard.

07/28/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Cody is a young catcher with good abilities behind the plate. Defensively, Cody sits in well, feet are active, and his glove is soft. He moves well laterally, keeps the ball in front when blocking, and deadens it softly. Cody has a loose/accurate arm with pop times as low as 2.07 to 2nd base. A more square set-up and work with blocking can help defensive numbers spike. Offensively, Cody has an open stance, a good load, and he attacks the ball aggressively. He flashes good barrel accuracy, has fast bat speed, and can hit to all fields. Offensive numbers can get better if Cody can work on his balance, timing, and not pull off the ball. Cody is a very respectful hard worker who hustled the entire time down there at Pirate City.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
