12/27/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City Morgan is a hardworking player with a positive attitude and is very coachable. Defensive grade in the MIF has improved as he displays clean / smooth actions. He works to square balls up and plays through with his body. Athletic actions are present on his feeds / turns of the double play. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he improves foot quickness and presents hands more out front. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared, athletic stance with balance and an aggressive approach. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a solid line drive approach, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he learns to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power grades will improve as he learns to use his lower half more.

11/03/2013 - College PREP - Shreveport, LA Cody is a lean, athletic 2B that will graduate in 2017. At the plate is where Morgan shows best through a squared / upright setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through an aggressive swing path, as he attacks the baseball. He makes consistent contact and works to stay inside the ball to utilize all fields. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. At 2B, Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.38 60 time. He displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he moves well laterally and works to square balls up, displaying soft / sure hands. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to work around and plays through the ball well with his body while presenting hands more out front. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Cody has abilities with time and room to continue to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
