06/06/2020 - 2020 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Texas Cody oozes projection on the mound where his 6'5" frame and long levers work well together. His coordination and body control allow him to repeat well and his fastball sat in the mid 80s with very little effort. He uses his breaking ball as an out-pitch as it has sweeping 2-plane break. When he throws it from the same window as his fastball, it is a true swing-and-miss offering. Cody also mixed in a change during his outing at the BF Texas Showcase and it showed promise with some late tumble. Overall, this has the makings of a 3-pitch lefty who makes hitters uncomfortable.

10/20/2019 - 2019 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures Texas Cody is an athletic LHP who is a prospect on the mound. Delivery is sound/repeatable as he shows good tempo through a strong balance point, allowing his arm action to work quick and free to the plate. Fastball shows a range of 80-83 mph. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with late break. Off speed pitches show as outstanding pitches that will get outs. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. With 2 years to further develop, Cody has upside on the bump and will get looks from pro scouts with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
