12/27/2012 - Pirate City Christmas Camp and Tournament Cody is a physical outfielder with a great attitude. He loves to play and it is contagious when he is on the field. As an outfielder, he does an excellent job of concentrating and playing pitch-to-pitch. He reacts well to the ball off the bat and closes on fly balls well. His throws are accurate and have on-line carry. At the plate, he has a controlled approach with a fluid stroke. When he shows good head discipline he makes consistent contact. Cody even jumped on the mound and pounded the strike zone with a fastball/curve-ball mix. Overall, this is a young outfielder who will fit at the next level in a program where he pushes everyone to get better.

08/11/2012 - College PREP - Gaffney, SC Cody has an athletic build and can cover some ground in the OF. Raines does a very nice job in the outfield with precise routes and a quick release. Playing through the baseball and getting extension out front will improve on an already solid and accurate arm. At the plate, his swing is compact and level, which all starts with a patient, well balanced approach in the box. This line drive hitter can have even more success by using the whole field. Cody has a solid approach to all aspects of the game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
