Official Scouting Report

  • 3Class Rating
  • C/RHPPosition Projection

01/17/2022 - All-In Membership - Glendale (Phoenix), AZ Cody is a tall, strong and athletic C/RHP in the 2023 class. Behind the plate, Cody has a low target with a wide frame. His pocket is firm and keeps his eyes behind the baseball. His strong arm (87 velo/2.20 pop) produces throws that are online with carry. He has advanced blocking technique with strong lateral movements. Staying low through his exchanges and having a shorter take away will put him in the sub 2.0 category. On the mound he operates with a 3-pitch mix. His 2-seam touched 80 and his 4 seam runs effectively. His Breaking pitch sat 61-69 with 12/6 shape. His CH sat 68-69 and was down in the zone. He has solid balance and good separation in his delivery. Gaining arm extension to the plate will assist with a more downward tilt on the baseball and increased velo. At the plate, his athleticism is prevalent. His fast hands (82 exit velo) and direct path to the baseball allows him to use the whole field. Loading his hands away from his body will increased his power and allow him to stay centered in his swing. Overall, Cody has great skills that will create numerous opportunities at the next level.

03/21/2021 - All-In Membership - Phoenix , AZ Cody is a tall, strong C/RHP who has a bright future on the diamond. Behind the plate, he shows a solid setup and sticks balls in the zone. He utilizes his body through the blocking, centering balls well out front. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. Pop time showed in the 2.08 with accuracy / carry (80 mph velocity) on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows as a switch hitter with well above average hitting abilities and outstanding power potential from both sides. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 76-78 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sink. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will increase as he builds more arm strength. With 2 years to further develop, Cody has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
