01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Colby is a SS who showed as a prospect at the All-America Pre-Season Tournament. At the plate – he shows an athletic setup and displays rhythm to his load. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. At SS, he has plus lateral range, working from the ground-up with smooth actions. Transfer is quick as he fires strong throws zipping (85 mph velocity) across the diamond.

08/11/2019 - College PREP - Wilmington, DE Colby showed solid defensive skills and raised arm velocity to 84 MPH during his last workout in Wilmington, DE. At SS, Colby has active feet, a presentable glove, and he moves through the baseball well. He stays in a low fielding position, shows a clean exchange, and throws with momentum and consistency across the diamond. At the plate, Colby is an aggressive hitter with a square stance and good balance. He tracks the ball well, makes square contact, and can work the ball to all fields.

07/28/2019 - College PREP - Washington, DC Colby continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a bright future on the diamond. At the plate, hitting abilities are now well above average through a squared setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. In the MIF, defensive abilities are now solid as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on the slow roller as he maintains outstanding body control. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and zip (84 mph velocity) across the diamond. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Colby is an athletic and talented 2022 SS prospect with high energy. At SS, Colby is on time with his prep step, he plays through the ball, and has a quick first step to the ball. He has a clean exchange, throws from multiple arm angles, and makes accurate throws. At the plate, Colby starts in an open stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and gets his front foot down on time. Stays flat to the ball, creates backside rotation, and drives the ball to all fields. Colby has good instincts on the field and we hope to see his progress in the future.

08/12/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Wilmington, DE Colby is a lean, athletic SS prospect who is very advanced for his age. He shows impressive feel to hit with smooth actions in the box and the hand eye coordination to deliver the barrel to the ball consistently. He is simple in his mechanics to load and launch on time and use a strong lower half. He gets on plane early and is level through the zone to make square, line drive contact from gap to gap with extra base potential. At short, he fields the ball out front in a low position with soft hands to play the tough hops. He has a clean exchange and works to his target on release to follow his flips and throws. A long toss program will help improve his arm strength moving forward. Colby is a player we definitely want to keep an eye on as he continues to progress.

11/17/2016 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Colby is a young SS who will graduate in 2022. In the field, Colby displays quick feet and is very agile covering ground. He gets into a low, athletic position and presents his hands to field the ball. He has a clean exchange to throw with a short arm action from a high 3/4 angle. He gains momentum well to his target which allows his throws to remain accurate. Colby can improve defensively by getting on a long toss program to build up his arm strength. At the plate, Colby sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride to the ball. He is smooth getting back into his load and comes through the zone well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing path to the ball with fast bat speed which produces hard contact and gap to gap power. Colby can improve as a hitter by being more aggressive at the plate. Mental makeup is a plus as Colby displayed a great attitude throughout the event. Overall, Colby is a talented prospect who has the time and potential to further develop his skills.

10/08/2016 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 12-14) Colby is a solid young hitter who will graduate in 2022. At the plate, Colby sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride to the ball. He is smooth and fluid getting back into his load and comes through the zone well with his lower half, finishing with a firm front side. He takes a direct path to the ball with fast bat speed which leads to consistent, square contact. Colby can improve as a hitter by extending more through the zone. Overall, Colby is a talented young hitter who will only get better as he continues to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
