12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18)
Colby is an athletic and talented 2019 hard working 2-way prospect. In the OF, Colby is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and plays through ground balls. He's aggressive to the ball and anticipates the ball off the bat. He needs to continue to build arm strength and over all foot speed. At the plate, Colby starts in an athletic stance, has a simple load, and gathers on the back leg. His hands work well but he needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball and be more explosive with the backside. On the bump, Colby shows confidence and attacks the zone with his fastball. He gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a good stride length. He needs to continue to work north to south in his delivery and finish over the front side. Colby will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.
08/20/2018 - College PREP - Plymouth Meeting (Philadelphia), PA
Colby is a thin, athletic, 2-way player who plays OF and LHP. Defensively, Colby has quick feet, he attacks the ball aggressively, and has good range to the baseball. He fields athletically in a square position, has a clean exchange, and throws with accuracy from a quick/short arm action to his target. Added arm strength and working behind the ball sooner will help defense improve. On the mound, Colby has good balance, nice lefty arm side run on his FB, and he lands in a square direction with a proper length stride. Mound effectiveness can improve if Colby can loosen his arm action, get more extension, and finish in a more complete position. At the plate, Colby has a crouched stance, a short stride, and good balance. He swings aggressively, has a direct barrel to the ball, and he gets his lower body through the zone. A looser grip, smoother actions, and added bat speed will help hitting grades spike.
