09/12/2021 - Official Player Development Membership - Keizer (Salem), OR Colby is a C/2B prospect who will graduate in 2025. Medium frame lean build with some strength present and room to add throughout. In the infield, he showed good lateral range and has quick feet. He fields from a low fielding position and has a quick transfer. He made accurate/on-line throws from a 3/4 arm slot, with a quick release, and an arm velocity up to 72mph across diamond. Behind the dish, he showed quick feet and good pocket awareness. He presents a low target and tracks pitches well. Tries to work around ball with good direction towards second base. Showed good spine angle on his blocks. Made accurate/on-line throws with a best pop time of 2.37 seconds. At the plate, this switch-hitter hits from an athletic and even stance from both sides of the plate. From the right side, he starts with a short stride to contact and has a line drive approach. He hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 71mph. From the left side, he starts with a short/square glide step with a small hand load. Hits into a firm front side with a high finish. Sprayed balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 56mph during BP. With 4 years of continued growth and development, we see him having a bright future on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
