12/27/2020 - Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Colby is an athletic OF in the class of 2021. In the outfield, he has active pep with a quick first step taking good routes to track down fly-balls. He works behind and creates momentum through the ball into his quick release. With the bat, he displays a tall/open setup with high hands. He has controlled rhythm, good balance and a centered lower 1/2. Swing path is on-plane as he whips the barrel to and through the zone with quick hands and intent to drive the ball. Colby is a coachable player who can make adjustments quickly. He has a solid all-around skill-set that should provide success in this his senior year.

11/21/2020 - All-In Membership - Irvine (Los Angeles), CA Colby is a strong C/OF who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls out front. Pop times showed in 2.25 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls and plays with momentum to his target. He moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground (7.06 60 time), displaying plus range. At the plate he continues to shine through an athletic, open setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Colby has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continue to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
