03/13/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Indianapolis, IN Cole showed as a 2B plus on the mound for the first time at the event and has improved his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.31 runner. In the MIF, feet are quick, athletic as he works around balls and presents glove well out front. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy on his throws. At the plate, hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact and shows a feel for the barrel, mainly to the pull side. Power will increase as he loads more and works more aggressively through the lower half. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 73-75 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 3/9 shape with sweeping break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to develop more movement on pitch. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound.
