Official Scouting Report

  • RHPPosition Projection

01/12/2020 - College PREP - Monterey Park (Los Angeles), CA Cole is an athletic RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Cole gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works inline towards the plate and extends through his release, finishing square to his target. Cole shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 81mph with cutting action. Breaking ball sits from 62-64mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 71-74mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Loosening his arm action can help Cole improve as a pitcher. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance with good center balance. He takes an aggressive hack and generates fast bat speed through the ball, leading to great gap to gap pop. Cole can improve as a hitter by being more controlled getting into his load. Overall, Cole is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

12/15/2019 - College PREP - Thousand Oaks, CA Cole is a tall, solid RHP who will graduate in 2020. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 81 mph. Breaking ball sits from 62-66 mph with 10/4 shape with gradual break. Changeup sits from 77-79 mph but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. Hand are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Power will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Overall, Cole has the potential to contribute at the next level as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
