02/08/2020 - National Tryout Plus - Palmyra (Harrisburg), PA Cole increased arm velocity to 73 MPH, catching numbers increased, and lowered to pop times to 2.47 during his last workout. Behind the plate, Cole has active feet, soft hands, and sits in low and athletically. He presents well, receives softly, and shows a clean transfer with momentum and a short arm action to 2nd base. At the plate, Cole stands in the box athletically, takes a square stride toward the pitcher, and puts the barrel on the ball. He shows some balance and uses his lower body at times.

07/16/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Cole continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.47 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he continues to build more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and receives the ball well. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At the plate, he continues to shine through a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude and good instincts with plays with a lot of energy.

11/15/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Cole is an athletic and hard working 2023 Catching prospect that made several adjustments throughout the weekend. Behind the dish, Cole has a relaxed/balanced primary and is on time to the ball when receiving. Continuing to work behind the ball will allow him to control balls in the strike zone post pitch more consistently. He has good footwork and makes accurate throws. Exchanging the ball in front of his body and creating momentum with his lower half to the ball will allow him to have a quicker release. He consistently blocks the ball but he should continue to challenge himself in drill work to control the ball with his chest. At the plate, Cole starts in a closed stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and gets his front foot down on time. He has quick hands to the ball and whips the barrel through the strike zone. He hits off a firm front side and drives the ball gap to gap. Continuing to keep a middle approach and hunting the fastball will elevate his game at the plate. Cole has a high baseball IQ and will continue to improve with experience. We hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
