05/24/2015 - National Tryout - Wappinger Falls, NY Gill continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.15. Defensive grade at 3B has improved as well as he works hard and moves well laterally displaying range. Feet are active and he displays clean hands. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he attacks balls more and plays through while presenting hands more out front. Behind the plate, he threw his lowest pop time to date at 2.29. Throws are accurate, flashing carry with times continuing to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a closed setup with balance. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball and utilizes all fields. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner to be on time. Power grades will continue to improve as he adds overall body strength.

08/23/2014 - College PREP - Purchase, NY Cole continues to work hard on his game. At 3B, he shows active footwork as he works around the ground ball. He has a clean exchange and his arm works easy on throws across the diamond. Behind the plate, Cole presents his target and sticks pitches. He gets to pitches to his right and left, deadening them. With the bat, this RHH shows good rhythm getting into a loaded position. Barrel delivery is quick as he drives the opposite field. A shorter/more direct swing path will result in increased pop. Only a 2016 grad, Gill still has time to develop his skills.

07/17/2013 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 2 Cole showed well in Cape Cod, as both a 2B and a C. At second, he showed a good setup, good approach, and a clean/quick exchange. He focused on presenting his glove earlier throughout the week and did a tremendous job of making it into a new habit. Behind the dish, he sits easy with an athletic base and has active feet to block. He has a clean exchange and shows accuracy with his throws. With added arm strength his pop times will lower. Offensively, he has good rhythm with his lower half and hands. He shows a clean bat path and good barrel accuracy. In all, Cole is a projectable young player that continues to show growth in his ability with a strong baseball IQ and work ethic.

11/08/2012 - Baseball Factory Training & Competition at Pirate City Cole is a young, coachable 2B/C that plays the game with passion. Defensively, he has good actions, good glove presentation, and makes plays. His arm is accurate and he has a nice approach with slow rollers. Cole needs to strengthen his arm and needs to be sure both feet are down when the ball enters the contact box. Offensively, he shows an athletic setup, good separation and excellent body control. At times, his front foot is late getting down, causing an early front-side and bat drag. Eliminating that tendency will truly help Cole's offensive consistency. Cole always hustles on and off the field, pays attention to detail and battles at the dish. With continued maturity/physical growth and honing his fundamental game, Cole will be a good looking prospect come his graduation year of 2016.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
