08/14/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Gambrills, MD Cole continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. He did show in the OF for the first time at the event. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body during the blocking process centering balls out front. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.07 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an open setup. He is aggressive as he attacks balls through a level swing path. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop.

09/08/2018 - College PREP - Gambrills, MD Cole is a lean, athletic catcher who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line to his target through a clean / transfer exchange. Pop times showed a range of 2.12-2.32 with accuracy and carry on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He displays a soft glove and sticks balls well in the zone through the receiving process. He uses his body through the blocking process and centers balls well out front. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. With 4 years to further develop, Cole has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
