10/20/2019 - College PREP - Sauget (St. Louis), IL Cole is a solid, strong catcher who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a quick transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in the 2.03 range with accuracy and carry (83 mph velocity) on his throws. He tracks balls well and sticks balls in the zone. He utilizes his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Receiving / blocking skills are quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he shows a tall, open setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 2 years to further develop, Cole has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
