06/29/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National South A fun two-way talent to watch, Cole impresses both on the mound and at the plate. As a RHH, he has an athletic setup and fluid rhythm to load. He has very good bat speed, creating lots of hard hit line drives to all fields (exit velo = 83 mph). On the mound, he works with good tempo, attacking hitters and pounding the zone with strikes. He shows a three pitch mix from a compact/repeatable delivery, featuring an 11-5 breaking ball that has good downward action and flashes sharp bite. At short, he has great lateral quickness and range, gets rid of the ball quickly with a great exchange and has a very accurate arm with carry. This is a talented prospect who makes things happen no matter where he plays.

03/20/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Greenville, SC Cole continues to a promising future on the diamond. Defensive abilities in the MIF have solid, displaying smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. He moves well laterally and presents a soft glove well out front. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process as he works to get rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent hard contact, mainly to the pull side. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. On the mound, fastball showed in the mid 80 range. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for pitch with arm side run. Breaking ball displays tight spin with 11/5 shape and short break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. He works on time and shows good tempo through a repeatable delivery. Cole has a ton of potential and will get looks from collegiate coaches.

12/27/2015 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Cole is a hardworking, coachable player who continues to show improvements in his baseball tools. On the mound, he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 85 mph. Fastball displays good arm side run with late life. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break and shows as a quality pitch that will get outs. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches, attacking hitters. At SS, he utilizes his outstanding foot speed in his lateral movements as he displays range in the MIF. Feet are active and aggressive as he attacks and plays through the GB. At the plate, hands are quick and work inside the ball as he sprays it to all parts of the field. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off of his bat when centered. Cole has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities, possibly as a two-way guy.

07/27/2015 - College PREP - Gaffney, SC Cole continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities both at SS and on the mound with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an outstanding runner at 6.96. Defensive grade at SS are now well above average as he displays smooth / athletic actions. He utilizes his quick feet well as he works around balls and moves well laterally, displaying range in the MIF. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process with grade improving as he presents glove more out front. At the plate, hitting / power grades have improved as well through a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. On the mound, he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 80 mph. Fastball showed a range of 79-80 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with tailing action. Off speed stuff show potential as being quality pitches at the next level. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/01/2013 - College PREP - Erie, PA Cole is a young, very talented SS who excels offensively. At the plate, this right-handed hitter displays an open setup and smooth rhythm. He gets to a loaded position and drives his lower 1/2, helping to create pop off of his barrel. He hits line-drives and uses the whole field. As a SS, he shows good footwork and moves well around the ground ball. He plays through the ball, has a quick/clean exchange and makes accurate throws across the diamond. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength and will benefit his defensive play. As a rising freshman, Cole will turn some heads thanks to his abilities on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
