Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory West Coast Winter Classic (Ages 12-14) Cole is a coachable 3B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the West Coast Winter Classic. In the field, Cole takes a good first step and gets into a low position. He fields the ball out in front of his body and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate to his target. Working on his footwork can help Cole improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He gets his hands activated in his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to solid contact. Cole can improve as a hitter by working a smoother rhythm into his load. On the mound, Cole gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and stays inline towards the plate, driving his lower half well. Cole's fastball tops out at 61mph. Extending through his release more can help Cole improve as a pitcher. With four more years to develop, Cole has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

09/15/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Boise, ID Cole showed well at both positions during his last workout in Boise. He increased velocity to 69 MPH, exit velocity increased to 73 MPH, and hitting numbers spiked. At 3rd base, Cole covers ground well through efficient footwork. He makes plays, his exchange is clean, and he throws with solid arm strength across the diamond. On the mound, Cole keeps his eyes on target, he has good glove side lead, and he rotates through toward his target. At the plate, Cole has a square stance, fast bat speed, and he makes consistent contact. He gets good extension through the ball and works it well to the opposite field.

12/27/2018 - 2018 Inaugural West Coast Winter Classic - La Verne, CA Cole is a strong and athletic 2024 3B prospect. At the hot corner, Cole has active footwork, and fields the ball in an athletic position. He has a quick release and a strong arm. Cole needs to continue to be on time with his prep step, present a low/early glove, and anticipate the ball off the bat. At the plate, Cole starts in a closed stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and is aggressive on fastballs. He makes consistent hard contact and hits the ball to all fields. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball and creating backside drive with his lower half will improve his ability to drive the ball gap to gap. Cole is a patient hitter and have several quality at bats during the week. Cole will improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
