04/13/2014 - National Tryout - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA In Cole's most recent Baseball Factory outing, he showed his best velocity and pitchability to date. He ran his fastball up to 85 MPH and sat comfortably from 84-85 MPH. His best secondary pitch was his CH, which he throws with some tail in the zone. His sharp, late breaking curve-ball showed tight spin and was thrown in the zone however, he should continue increasing feel to have two go-to off-speed pitches. Mechanically, he had excellent arm action, good control, and a repeatable delivery. He worked down hill and showed present command with two of his three pitches. In all - at 6'/190, Cole is making himself into a very intriguing prospect for next level play.

10/25/2013 - 2013 Under Armour So Cal Classic - Upperclass Participant 10/26/13 - Smooth easy mechanics with good arm scion FB: 83-85mph with some run works on a good downward plane 3/4 slot cb 11/5 plus bat speed at the plate with gap power good upside

10/24/2012 - Arizona Freshman/Sophmore Fall Classic In Cole's latest Factory outing he pitched, played third and filled in at second base. On the mound, Cole pitched 4 solid innings, throwing a lot of strikes with his three different pitches; fastball, curve-ball, and change-up. His fastball topped out at 81 MPH, while his curve-ball had good rotation and occasional late break, and his change-up proved to be the greatest potential off-speed pitch. His arm action was very clean, and his delivery was sound, but his tempo was quick, causing late separation, at times. In 4 innings of work he did not have a single walk, he pounded the zone early and had tremendous control. Cole has great mound presence and is very independent in locking into the game. Defensively, he has sure hands and is athletic in his fielding position. His footwork needs some more work and he finds himself too tall in his fielding position, at times. Offensively, he has good life in his hands, clean separation, and good head control. Being sure to not bar his arm with his load (keeping his load shorter), and keeping his shoulders level will help him make solid contact with better barrel accuracy. All in all, the athletic 2016 grad has time to improve and get his playing ability up to the level of his superb intangibles.

09/09/2012 - College PREP - Azusa, CA Cole is a young RHP that will graduate in 2016. On the mound, his fastball ranges from 78-80 mph with the ability to throw strikes. His changeup is his best off speed pitch with good arm side run ranging from 68-70mph. Mechanically, Cole has a long arm action with good extension with a decent feel for pitching. He will need to focus on having a more consistent balance point where he is controlled and not rushed. His shoulders stay downhill but Cole will need to work on landing on the ball of his foot and inline with his target. Overall, Cole shows the ability to pitch but he will need to work on being more consistent with his delivery. With 4 years to further develop, Cole shows the potential to be a solid player at the next level as he continues to work on the areas above.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
