Official Scouting Report

  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

10/09/2016 - College PREP - Austin, TX Cole is a strong, athletic RHP/OF prospect. He has impressive pop at the dish, especially to the pull side where he is a threat to hit the ball out in any at bat On the hill, this right hander has a smooth delivery with a free, clean arm stroke that allows him to command his pitches to both sides of the plate. He gets good movement on all three offerings with run on his fastball, 11-5 break on his slider and sinking, tailing action on his changeup. Opening up his body angle towards the plate will allow more range of motion in his delivery and help his pitches play up even more. At the dish, Cole can be a dangerous hitter with explosive bat speed and a level, direct path to the ball. He Is smooth in the box to load and launch, with powerful weight transfer and extension through contact that allows him to hit hard liners gap to gap. In the outfield, he has quick, efficient feet with a fast first step to give him good range. He works to get behind fly balls and play through, gaining momentum to throw accurately to his target. Cole is an intriguing prospect we are excited to watch continue to grow and progress.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
