Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/LHPPosition Projection

05/16/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Spokane, WA Cole is a class of 2024 OF/LHP. At the plate, he starts in an athletic stance. Does a good job staying quiet and clean in his load and into his launch. Hits into a firm front side and shows good hip actions with separation. Top of the order style of hitter. Shows the ability to hit to all parts of the field. In the outfield, he gets excellent reads of the bat and shows active feet. Does a good job working his glove out front and understanding how to work around and through the baseball. Creates momentum to through and throws are on line. On the mound, he shows overall good mechanics as well as an ability to make adjustments. Shows the ability to throw 3 pitches for strikes. Fastball was up to 76 with slight arm side action. Breaking ball was 1-7 shaped and was the best pitch he threw of the day. Cole is a good prospect that we hope to see again in the future.

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Cole is an athletic LHP/OF prospect who showed well during the Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament. On the mound, Cole gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through his release, staying inline toward the plate. Cole shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 81mph with sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 58-64mph with 1-7 break. In the field, Cole shows fluid footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He fields in an athletic position and gains ground well on his throws, keeping them on-line through his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a tall stance with center balance. He gets back into his load and works through a level swing, producing solid contact to all fields. Overall, Cole is a talented prospect who has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

07/28/2020 - All-In Membership - Spokane, WA Cole is a talented LHP prospect who can fill it up. On the bump, this lefty has a 4-pitch arsenal in which to keep hitters guessing (FB, CB, SL, CH). He works from the stretch, has smooth separation and repeats his delivery well firing from a short/quick arm action. FB ranges from 73-74 mph while slight slight movement as he works it in and out. Changeup has some sinking action - 56-57 mph. Curveball shows to be his best pitch as it has late/sharp bite with 12/6 shape. Arm speed remains the same to that on his FB which will buckle hitters. At the plate, Cole shows a balanced setup with patience. He squares the ball up consistently and hits line-drives. More lower 1/2 drive will help to tap into even more power. Starting is a solid LHP who has a ton of upside and is one to keep an eye on as he fills out and gets stronger.

10/06/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Spokane, WA Cole is an athletic, 2-way player who pitches and plays OF. On the mound, this LHP has good balance over the rubber, a quick arm action, and he separates his hands on time. He has good glove side lead, a controlled landing toward home, and he throws strikes. In the OF, Cole has active feet, agile movements, and firm hands. He gets good reads off the bat, his exchange is quick, and he throws with accuracy and momentum to his cut off man. Offensively, Cole has a tall stance, good balance, and a level swing. He loads his hands well, makes square contact, and he works the ball the other way. Solid overall skills can get even better with work on the following.

Pitching
1. Arm extension
2. Stay direct
Outfield
1. 1st step
2. Work behind quicker
Offense
1. Avoid drifting
2. Rhythm

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
