12/27/2017 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Cole is an athletic player with a good frame who has improved his game on the field. He has seen an uptick in arm strength (80moh raw velo) that will help him shut down the running game behind the plate. His athleticism is on display as a backstop as he shows quick feet and actions to slide and block balls in the dirt. He centers the ball well and shows a quick transfer and release to throw. At the plate, he uses a strong lower half to generate bat speed and pop as he gets on plane early and works level through the zone. He makes consistent contact and can use all fields effectively, going 6-13 throughout the week. Cole is a player with lots of tools and potential on the field.

07/17/2017 - College PREP - Minneapolis, MN Cole is an athletic is an athletic, lean C/3B who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying solid hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Behind the plate, hands / feet work well together through a clean transfer / exchange in getting rid of the baseball. Pop times show a range of 2.15-2.30 with accuracy / carry on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft and he tracks balls well through the receiving process. He uses his body well through the blocking and is a wall behind the plate. At 3B, feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Athletic abilities are present through his feeds of the double play. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. With 3 years to further develop, Cole has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
