Official Scouting Report

01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Cole has established himself as one of the elite hitters in the entire country and he showed his hit/power combination in Arizona. Cole has a distinct presence in the box, exuding confidence and showing rhythm, early pitch recognition and the ability to really impact the baseball with a loose, quick swing. He has legitimate power, especially to the pull side and has a patient, advanced approach that allows him to stalk his pitch. On top of the offensive prowess, Cole ran a 6.71 in the 60 and showed solid defensive skills in the OF with enough arm to play all 3 spots. Committed to Arkansas, Cole is already high on the 2017 draft radar and will be competing in the Under Armour All-America Game at Wrigley Field in July.

11/07/2015 - 2015 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures Texas Cole is one of the top players in the 2017 class and continues to improve each time we see him. He is a confident, natural LHH with plus bat speed who whistles the bat through the zone. He controls the barrel and can manipulate the bat head with his strong hands, leading to hard contact and serious pull power. Cole is also an aggressive defender who moves through balls well. He has natural, sure hands in the OF with a decent release that leads to throws with good backspin and carry. He had solid game at bats as he sees the ball early out of the hand and reacts well. Overall, this young prospect can just flat out hit. He has rhythm, confidence, pitch recognition and outstanding bat to ball skills with legitimate power.

01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Cole is a lean, athletic OF/LHP that will graduate in 2017 with a promising future at both positions. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 7.17 60 time. In the OF, he displays well above average defensive abilities and utilizes his quick feet well in his lateral movement as he displays range. He works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target. Throws displaying life, accuracy and on line carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly, displaying outstanding arm strength. At the plate he continues shine, displaying outstanding hitting abilities through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed to and through a shirt / direct / level swing path, creating extension. He has strength in his swing with leverage as the baseball explodes off the bat when centered as he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. On the mound, he continues to show outstanding arm strength as indicated by his top velocity of 85 mph. Fastball showed a range of 82-85 mph. Breaking ball displays gradual break as he needs to work to stay on top of pitch more. With 2 years to further develop, Cole has the makings of a special type player and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
