10/25/2017 - Under Armour SoCal Classic, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Colin continues to show the makings of a special type player as he continues to improve his baseball tools. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.38 runner. At the plate, he continues to show outstanding power potential. He is aggressive and shows a feel for the barrel with baseball exploding off the bat (88 mph exit velocity) when centered. He had a great event, going 6 for 8 with 4 2B. Behind the plate, he utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in working in line to his target through a quick transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest pop time to date at 2.11. Throws are accurate with on line carry as he displays a quick / clean release. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Glove action is soft as he presents a solid target and tracks the ball well. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, deadening balls in front. He is a leader behind the plate and works hard to be the best player he can be.

06/25/2017 - College PREP - Seattle, WA Colin is a lean, athletic catcher who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed a range of 2.13-2.21 with accuracy / carry on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft / sure and he tracks balls well through the receiving process. He uses his body well through the blocking process and moves well laterally, centering all balls out front. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying well above average hitting abilities with outstanding power potential. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Colin has a ton of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
