05/27/2020 - All-In Membership - San Antonio, TX Colin is an athletic RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Colin works with a quick arm and extends through his release. He stays inline toward the plate and finishes square to his target. Colin shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 80mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 66-68mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 67-68mph with tailing action. Gathering to a balance point over the rubber can help Colin improve as a pitcher. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed and good extension, leading to loud contact and line drives. Colin can improve as a hitter by consistently using his lower half. Overall, Colin is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

03/17/2019 - College PREP - Tomball (Houston), TX Colin is a RHP/OF prospect who will graduate in 2021. On the mound, Colin shows good effort and controls his pitches well. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 74mph. Breaking ball sits from 64-66mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 71-72mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Gathering to a balance point over the rubber can help Colin improve as a pitcher. In the field, Colin shows fluid footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate with carry through his target. Colin can improve defensively by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a closed stance and hits against a strong front side. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to solid contact. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Colin improve as a hitter. With two more years to develop, Colin has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
