12/27/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City
Osborne showed as a LHP / 1B at the event and has improved his baseball abilities. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 74 mph. Fastball showed a range of 72-74 mph with arm side run / sink. Breaking ball displays 1/7shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength and works to throw more strikes. At 1B, he shows smooth / clean actions and good pre pitch movements. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. He works to square ground balls up, displaying clean hands as he makes the routine plays. At the plate, he shows an open / athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball and has pop in his swing with ball jumping off the bat when centered. Mental makeup is a plus as he has athletic abilities, plays hard, and is very coachable.
11/03/2013 - College PREP - Vinton (Roanoke), VA
Colin is a tall, lean LHP/1B that will graduate in 2015. Currently, he projects best in the 1B for the next level. Defensive grades are solid. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are soft / clean and he consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to play through balls more and improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate, but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Osborne shows an open / upright setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 70-71 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with early break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, with slight arm side run and shows potential as being a quality pitch. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength and throws more strikes. With 2 years to further develop, Colin has abilities with time and room to improve.
