02/27/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - North Branford, CT Colin is a C out of Mansfield Center, CT in the class of 2023. Behind the dish, he showed the ability to receive the ball well by keeping his thumb under the baseball while tracking it into his pocket with little to no body movement. He moves well around the plate especially when blocking. He tucks his chin and can cover the entire plate to deaden the ball in front of him. His throws were accurate with carry to the bag with an impressive pop time of 2.09. As a hitter, he uses an athletic set up with a controlled load and quick hands to deliver the barrel to the ball. He stays on plane with the pitch which enables him to make square contact while accomplishing a line drive approach. Colin is a good player who will certainly find his way to the next level and we are excited to see what his future holds.

09/03/2021 - Baseball Factory's All-Region Tournament (HS) Colin continues to shine with his baseball abilities at the All Region tournament. Behind the plate, feet are aggressive and active as he works in line to his target, through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in the 2.10 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength. He shows a squared setup, tracks well, and sticks balls in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls out front. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach.

08/21/2021 - Summer Pro Training Experience - MD (HS) Colin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now displaying excellent hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Colin's exit velocity has jumped 8 mph over a 5 month period and his hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. Behind the dish, he continues to shine showing solid receiving / blocking skills and works to deaden the ball out front. Pop times showed in the 2.01 range with accuracy and carry on his throws. Behind the plate, Colin shows active footwork and is agile moving to block. He sits in an athletic stance and receives with soft hands. His exchange is clean and he makes accurate, on-line throws to the 2B bag. Long tossing can help Colin build up his arm strength. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
